Back in business with the latest beta. The copy on my main box was hosed from that error so I had to update it on my laptop and then bring it over.
In the NAV report could you split out the value of existing sell orders in some way from the Assets section? I'd like to see these 2 numbers separately (value of sell orders, and value of the rest of the assets) so I can keep an eye on how much stuff I have sitting around.
Also did you ever figure out if there was any info in the API about the cash needed to cover margin orders, for those of us with Margin Trading? I was also wondering if we could get some sort of dashboard that shows everybody's cash on hand and maybe a definable low-cash alert?
The first time I ran the NAV report with the new version my NAV dropped by about 10%. Then I ran it again 15 minutes later and it was up over 25% over the pre-patch NAV estimate. That's ok because I usually work it up with Excel from a CSV dump.
Good idea with splitting the total assets value from the sell orders value. Don't know why I didn't do it before tbh.
There's no info in the API that tells me how much isk is needed cover your buy orders. However, EMMA does have your skill levels and it's fairly simple to calculate the ammount needed to cover. It appears in-game at the bottom of the orders page as well.
Wierd result with the NAV report, I'll keep an eye on it.
Originally by: Entity Zerio So Ambo, your correct in the fact I was looking at total Income. So I changed it to total NAV and its still has much higher numbers then I actually have. Saying total in Escrow is ~47 million, total NAV ~57million. True amount + assets in games is ~26million. Anyway to get this to show the correct value?
I've checked my report and it shows the correct amount for total in escrow (0). How much should it actually be? You can check the 'Total in escrow' in-game at the bottom of your market orders screen.

Edited by: No Profit on 21/02/2009 13:36:16 Version 1.2.1.7 Is now a main release. This incorporates tons of changes since the last main release. Highlights are below:
- 'Selected cells calculator' tool. This allows you to calculate sum, average, median, etc from a range of user-selected cells in data views. Thanks to Dr Thieme Volker and his 'frquency table' class which formed the basis of the calculations - http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cs/FrequencyTable.aspx. See the tutorial for full details.
- In investments, each character/corp can now have a seperate bank account rather than having just one account for the whole report group. This requires that existing bank accounts will have to be assigned to a specific char. You can do this by double clicking the account in the investments window and setting the character to own the account.
- Finally got around to adding a second download site for the auto-updater. The servers to look at can be configured in 'Settings->Other Settings' (You can't add new ones, only remove existing ones or reset to defaults)
- Added csv export option to assets, journal, transaction and orders data views.
- The data views (orders, transactions, etc) now support multi-column sorting. To enable this, simply hold ctrl while clicking column headers. The columns will always be sorted in the order they are added. e.g. clicking the 'price' column header and then holding control and clicking the 'quantity' column header will sort primarily by price and then use quantity to sort if two or more prices are the same. Holding ctrl and clicknig the 'price' column header again will reverse the ascending/descending sort order for that column but the order of columns will remain 'price' and then 'quantity'.
- The reprocessor has an extra filter field 'container'. This will be populated with all containers at the station specified. Selecting a container will cause the list of reprocessable items to show just the items within the selected container.
- There is now an 'exclude from reprocessor' flag against all assets. It can be enabled/disabled in the assets data view.
- The NAV report includes the value of items in sell orders when calculating total asset value. This worked by simply getting the price of an order multiplied by the quantity remaining. Unfortunatley, this was being done for ALL sell orders, not just active ones. Since cancelled and expired orders still have a remaining quantity greater than zero, this was causing the total value of assets to be higher than expected when the user had any cancelled or expired sell orders. This has now been fixed.
- The route planner tool now allows you to specify start and end stations individualy.
- The route planner tool has two new options to exclude low sec systems and to exclude ships, fittings, containers and thier contents when adding waypoints based upon character assets.
Also fixed a ton of bugs.

Version 1.2.1.8 BETA available.
Just a few little changes:
- The assets value and sale orders value are now seperate in the NAV report. Note this can cause slight inaccuracies when producing reports covering older time periods.
- Some leftover diagnostics in the NAV and assets report have been removed.
- Fixed a bug in the NAV report that could cause divide by zero errors in certain circumstances.

Edited by: No Profit on 22/02/2009 13:06:00 Yup, source code is all available through sourceforge here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/evemarketmonapp/
It's become somewhat unruly as I've expanded it I'm afraid. Feel free to give me a shout if you need a hand figuring anything out.

I'll look into adding some diagnostics.
Originally by: JuriBe Having an issue with EMMA regarding the item report - before and after all February updates.
I have created a small list of items that I want to track in the Item value screen, however when generating the report there there are more items then specified. These are items that have been traded, but not ones I necessarily want to track.
The item report will alawys include all items that have a transaction within the time period that you specify.
Originally by: Vested Interest Ambo we talked about this before, could we have an option for the item/nav/assets reports to ignore items not on the Item Values list? I have a lot of stuff out there I don't care to include on the reports.
It's still on my to do list. Unlikley to happen any time soon I'm afraid.

edit: New sell orders total is way off, like 2x what it should be...perhaps it's summing the total of orders rather than the total of stuff left on them?
I have noticed it is taking about 2x as long to start since the last 3 revs.
I shall investigate the issue with the sell orders value.
I'll look into the time taken starting up. I have some old diagnostics in there.
Originally by: Lost Hamster
In the Assest menu, I get all the time a warning: Displaying assets for *region name* may take a long time, really display the assets?
Is it possible to switch off this warning message?
Edit: For future development, is it possible to get one more filter in the transactions report? I would need a region. So if I don't want to select a station, then I could select a specific region?
I'll add an option to disable that warning and a region filter for the transactions view to my to do list.
Originally by: Cani Zir The main thing I noticed that is missing is a lot of the income from tax, I.E. mission rewards and bounty prizes.
EMMA shows me 5 events of tax income to the corp over the last week, but when I look at the wallet ingame, there is tons of them.
Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, does anyone know how to fix it?
Btw, I'm just on EMMA trial for now, dunno if that could be it??
Not heard of anyone having problems like that I'm afraid. Certainly the trial version does not have any restrictions so that's not causing it.
What is different about the tax events that do appear in EMMA and the ones that don't? I suspect that will point us in the right direction.
Originally by: Kan'Nal I keep getting API Error (100: Expected beforeRefID = 0: wallet not previously loaded.) I don't understand what that should mean, and it happens only with one of my chars while updating the Journal. EVE API error or EMMA?
This means that the EMMA has already retrieved 1000 journal entries and is now trying to get the next batch of 1000. This usually works fine but somtimes the API goes a bit wierd.. Lame explanation I know but there it is.
Originally by: Kan'Nal
Some other bug I encountered: the API window with the updatetimers for all the chars cuts off its width right before the time display and the checkboxes are unreachable. Resizing doesn't help. Altough I am not sure if that is fixed already in the latest stable version.
Are you running on Vista with the aero interface? There are some graphical problems that occur when using Aero with EMMA.

Feature request: can we get the Item detail report back, please? I saw it in any earlier version.
Item detail will be making a return soon.
Originally by: Kan'Nal Most of the time the "unacknowledged Orders" window has a bug, so that I can't get rid of it. Not by pressing the "All"-Button nor by pressing the checkmarks for every Order. And it seems to slow the tool down while the window is open.
I'll look into it.

It's on my to do list but there's a LOT of other stuff on there and it's low priority so don't hold your breath.
Originally by: Anest Dura I was just wondering how I can get my hands on the beta updates as the Update button in EMMA just spits back an error for me. Is there any other way to get the beta updates for EMMA?
Any help you guys could give me would be great.

I think you are sorted after our emails? Let me know if you have any more problems.
Originally by: Marius Rau Just getting into some of this and want to give EMMA a try. I downloaded the most recent file on eve-files, which I assume is the latest version as I didn't see a version number. I tried to run the exe file and got an error that I needed the x86 version; I'm running Vista x64. I got an older version, 1.0.0.1 I think and got this error when trying to install:
Prerequisite check for system component SQL Server 2005 Express Edition failed with the following error message: "This version of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is not supported for the current processor architecture."
I managed to run a file from something like v0.97, but it would load up to the point where it asked for API and then give me a similar SQL error.
Is this compatible with Vista 64? I didn't see anything about it on the forums, but I could have missed it. Could you maybe post direct links to the full download of the most recent version for those of us just looking at EMMA that aren't using an autoupdater?
Thanks, this looks like a great program from the screenshots.
There is only an installer for version 1.0.0.1 or somthing. This will auto update to the latest version when you first run though.
I'm also planning to release a new installer with version 1.3.0.0.
Vista 64 will work fine but somtimes the installer seems to have problems putting SQL Express on 64 bit systems. You can download and install it manually from here. Scroll to the very bottom and look for the line "* For the 64-bit install of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, click here".
If you still have problems, you might want to check out this very detailed post from ScenecS about getting vista 64 to work with SQL express 2008.
Finally, SQL x64 has a bug that prevents a the 'CLR integration' setting from being set correctly. This means you have to get it all setup and run EMMA. You'll then get a message like 'CLR integration not enabled'. Just restart your machine and you should then be good to go.

Originally by: Sprawdzacz I thought that this is EMMA vs Vista problem but today after 6 months I downloaded new emma and... I still cant update Journal information : > It says "EVE API error 100" .
Any solutions for this?;>
I've been looking into this today and I can only come up with one solution and it requires some knowledge of the data retrieval process to explain:
When getting journal data from the API, you first send your request and (assuming there are no errors) you get back the 1000 most recent journal entries. These are processed and then EMMA will request the next 1000 entries. This continues until EMMA recieves back a 'wallet exhausted' error. EMMA then adds all the processed entries to the database.
What I believe is happening is that, in some cases, the second request for data is hitting the API server before it's fully dealt with the first request. This means that your asking for the next 1000 records and the API server dosn't think that you've asked for the first 1000 yet. This causes the error 100 to be returned.
To be honest, I find it unlikley that the API server is programmed in such a way as to allow this to occur but I simply cannot see any other explanation.
My fix for this is to make sure EMMA always waits at least 2 seconds between sending data requests for the same wallet. It will mean minor delays when updating data but shouldn't be that big a deal. This will be available in the next update.

Thanks again,

However, bear in mind that no data is uploaded to eve central from EMMA. It only requests information.

Originally by: CSI Eve ok, a some things from me (loaby):
- i too get the api 100 error for the jorunal update since 2 or 3 days. it updated correctly once yesterday though, but got that error again today
- the nav report works but it takes about 20 minutes until it is processed
- the nav report gives me some strange numbers, e.g. my amount in escrow is way too big
- the autocontractor calculates with some ridiculous wrong numbers, e.g. reprocess value for meta 0 items 100 times higher than it should be. i looked into the items value settings and run the value calc and it again took those numbers as reprocessed value. that causes the autocontractor to show strange values, thus makes it unusable
I'm 99% sure the 100 error is somthing going wrong on CCP's end. I've got a couple of workarounds that I'm trying out but since it's an intermittent problem, it's taking a lot of testing to be able to say with any confidence that I've fixed it.
Does the amount in escrow in the NAV report match the amount in escrow if you look at the active market orders within EMMA or is it different? I suspect you might have a lot of duplicates of the same order and that's causing both the slowness and the incorrect numbers.
The reprocess values of everything calculate fine for me. Check the values of tritanium, pyrite and all the other minerals in 'Settings -> Item values'. There might be one that is unusually high for some reason?

I too am getting the ocasional 100 error still but they seem a lot less persistent now so I think the fix must have done somthing to help.
When I first started to get that error, I noticed that it only occurred on the first fetch of a certain XML, for example the first WalletTransaction.xml.
At that time I was querying the API with no parameter at all for the first page and added the expected beforeRefID parameter for each additional query, while walking the transactions/journals backwards.
I then simply added beforeRefID=0 to the first call to the API. Since then, this error hasn't come up again for me.
Ah, interesting. EMMA certainly leaves the parameter off totally if it's going to be 0 so I'll try adding it in. Thanks for the help.

Originally by: Dariah Stardweller When trying to browse my assets in the reprocessor it lags like hell, this is the first time I'm using EMMA, is this normal?
Yeah, that's normal. It's because it has to get prices for every item, work out what the reprocess results would be, get the prices for those items as well. Since getting prices often involves a trip to eve-central, this can be a pretty slow process.

Version 1.3.0.4 now available
This fixes the problem that caused the database update to fail. Note that when you update, it will fail to copy the database file again (because it's still using the old version) but when you update after that, the database will be copied successfully.
For those who are interested, the problem was caused by connection pooling. Essentially, this causes the sql service to maintain a lock on the database file for 5 minutes after the last access. This, in turn, prevented the auto updater from copying in the new database file.
To fix it, connection pooling was disabled for the few database accesses that occur before the automatic update.
